Campitos Turquoise w/Pyrite (Mexico)

This lovely teal to sky blue turquoise called Campitos Turquoise is found in Sonoma, Mexico. Each piece averages 1". It is stabilized, which is not an unusual process for Turquoise since it is so soft and crumbly. There are a variety of stabilization techniques.

The most common is treating the Turquoise with epoxies or acrylic resins. The chemicals are infused into the turquoise by soaking the material for a long period of time, or by subjecting it to pressure.
