But I digress. Back to the issue at hand. Today, I was presented with the exact same question THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. It's my higher self's way of saying, "Hello!! Are you seeing this? Do you GET it??" And, like many things on this journey, I DO see and want to share my thoughts with you.

So who exactly made the statement that Citrine (or carnelian or kyanite or.....) never needs clearing/cleansing/cleaning? What made them come to this conclusion? Are there scientific tests that can prove this? or is it one of those unseen, unproved, general statements that are made under the guise of "channeled" information? Do not get me wrong. I do believe there are those who can connect with higher self/divine source. I do believe there are those who receive information via hearing, seeing, feeling. What I have an issue with is one person says something and then everyone else assumes it must be true and carries the information forward, repeating it over and over until we become..........sheep.

Did anyone ever think to question this? What makes Citrine so different that it never needs clearing? Citrine is a Quartz, true. Quartz by its very nature amplifies the energy around it. We clean/clear our quartz. Amethyst is a Quartz too. Yet, it has been my experience that Amethyst draws in negative energy and holds it there until it is cleared. So why Amethyst and not Citrine? Why Smoky Quartz (another quartz) and not Citrine? How is Carnelian different? So different that it never needs clearing? All other chalcedony needs clearing. Carnelian is often dyed to enhance its color. Does the dying process in some way change the Carnelian?

These things play on my mind. I often sit with things like this for quite a while--asking the question out loud and waiting for a response. Part of me realizes that being spiritual may mean there are no answers in a scientific sense. The cynical part of me demands an explanation. And finally, the middle way prevails. And so below, is my own unique opinion in response to the statement that "Citrine (carnelian, kyanite, etc.) never needs clearing."

I feel that ALL crystals need clearing at one time or another. For me, this is my unique perspective/truth. Whoever first "channeled" that certain stones did not need cleansing, let's call him/her "Rocky", did so using his/her own unique perspective--in other words, how it felt to them and them only. Because, in general, we do not trust our own intuition/guidance/information, we decided just to adopt what "Rocky" said as our own guideline. We repeated this to friends, who passed it on to their friends. We shared the book where the information was stated and took it as truth.

Let's use Citrine as an example. It is stated in many books that Citrine does not need to be cleared. Citrine removes negativity by pulling in the negative energy and transmuting it to positive energy, which cleanses a person, space, etc. from that dense, negative vibe. I am assuming that this is the reasoning behind the statement, that Citrine does not need to be cleared because it transmutes negative energy into positive. However, there are LOTS of crystals that transmute negative energy into positive that are not listed as one of the few crystals that do not need cleansing. Why?

While it is true that Citrine does not absorb and keep the negative, dense energies within, I still think it is a great idea to clear Citrine (and ALL other crystals, no exceptions). Think of an air filter. This air filter is designed to filter(clear) out all harmful dust and pollutants, transmuting dirty contaminated air into clean, breathable, healthy air. This filter needs to be changed/washed/cleaned regularly. The crystal Citrine filters out negative energy and dense vibes (which are not conducive to our highest good) and transmutes it into positive, "clean" energy. Still, after all of that filtering and transmuting, I personally feel that Citrine should be cleared/cleansed--even if it is only to say "Thank You for the work you do".

A lot of folk may feel these crystals do not need clearing/cleansing at all, but in my simple way of thinking, everything needs to be cleaned now and again. Here is the bottom line. If you feel your crystal needs clearing, then clear it. Do what feels right to YOU, not what some book (which is only stating the authors opinion--their truth as they see it) states. It is imperative, if you want to truly have a personal relationship with your crystals to listen to YOUR intuition, YOUR guidance, YOUR inner self. What other people say (even me!) may or may not be your experience. Stand true to your self. Become self empowered by listening to your guidance. Make up your own mind as to what works for you and what doesn't. Do not be a sheep! "
